I immediately snapped to attention. There was little I loved more than the Bitch of the playground mums getting a bit of comeuppance. Especially since I found out she had been the “other woman” all along – so much for my split-up not becoming playground gossip!
Of course, there he was going about with her clinging on his arm with eyes like a lost puppy – me in the background ever-resentful.
“What happened?”
“She’s there with a positive test result and he comes home with Chlamydia!”

ReplyDeleteThis is very powerful writing!I could feel the anger right through it & what an ending!
The piece took me by surprise and made me realise that I do need to put a 'safety' notice on the details each week. I run another similar challenge for children and many of them read through my blog so I need to make sure that anything posted on it is suitable for children as young as 7-8yrs.
I do hope you understand and will join again perhaps tweaking it so that it is suitable for a general 'U' certificate!

I'm very sorry that you feel that way. As several entries to this week's 100 WCGU were rather steamy (which would be inappropriate for 7-8 year olds of course!) I assumed the content was to be directed at more of an adult audience.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed you have removed my link from your prompt and I'm not sure how to feel about that considering there are other entries with adult content still linked.
I enjoyed writing it - however I do feel that perhaps I should seek a similar activity in a different place where there is little danger of young children reading it.
I do hope you spread the same message you have given me to the other participants as if my daughter read some of the rather sexually charged entries which are still linked, I would feel that is inappropriate.
