100 Word Challenge For Grown Ups - Week 10

This week's prompt was a photo of a sculpture in Luxembourg Gardens. Initially I struggled to come up with anything but I hope this will do - definitely a lot more tame than last week!

Dear Secret Diary...

I saw him again today. He got a taxi to work, he was running late. At lunchtime he came to the coffee shop and had a sandwich. He walked right by me but I was too scared to speak. His girlfriend met him after work, she’d waited. She was angry. She threw something metal onto the floor and this upset him. He watched her leave and then cried.
I wanted to comfort him, tell him I loved him and I’d waited. There’s no point – he won’t look at me twice.
After all, who could love a tree?

  1. I found this quite intriguing - such an unusual take on the prompt. I wonder why the tree noticed this man in particular?

  2. I'm not sure of the answer myself! When I looked at the sculpture I felt it looked lonely and wondered what it saw go past it (it does have the shape of a human, almost) and it ended up as that!

Why it ended up being called a tree, I'm not sure - it looked better when I read it back!
