I really struggled with this week's prompt! Had writer's block for most of the week, was pre-occupied for most of the weekend and when I did start writing it on one subject, I suddenly had a massive wave of recollections and ideas! I decided not to write several, but I may just be greedy if I have time today and change my mind!
Anyway, the prompt for this week was Out of the mouths of babes.
To join in with the 100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups, go here.I was extremely relieved, to say the least. I had broken the news of a new baby brother on the way and my daughter had taken it extremely well. The prospect of a new baby brother brought with it an excitement that eclipsed the need for any embarrassing questions. Or so I assumed. As it turns out she had no need to ask.We were in a busy diner when it happened. Nothing posh, just the regular Saturday lunchtime meal. For a moment she fell silent. Then came the announcement:“Mum, Dad’s the baby maker and you’re the baby grower!”Out of the mouths of babes!
Love that you set the scene for her words with "Nothing posh"...Robin
ReplyDeleteOh brilliant! I can see your face going crimson!!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the long wait, Blogger did not want me to comment again! Solved now!
ReplyDeleteLuckily there were two incidents that inspired this, the embarrassing revelation in the diner was a quieter one than the very loud "Dad's the baby maker..." I did get told on the way to school!
